The I Polish-Hungarian Scientific Forum launched a collaborative dialogue between Polish and Hungarian academics focusing on key legal issues. The event was part of the "Polish-Hungarian Research Platform", which presented the preliminary results of 5 research groups working on common challenges facing the two countries. Among the topics was "Reversed Rule of Law" in Poland, where a first analysis of recent changes in the Polish legal system was presented, looking at changes in governance and the rule of law. Another key theme was "Changing Foreign Service Relations", which provided an overview of the changing role of the foreign service in the light of global challenges. The Forum also addressed child welfare and modern technologies. It focused on the role of new technologies in protecting children's rights, but also highlighted the potential risks. Presentations included a session on "Social exclusion of older people", which looked at how legal frameworks can alleviate the social isolation of older people. Finally, the issue of transnational migrant crime was discussed, presenting initial findings on migration-related crime and possible legal and social strategies to address such challenges. The event served as an introduction to these areas of research, laying the groundwork for more detailed discussions and analyses at subsequent meetings.
