Navil Kosu Palya or Gadde Kosu Palya is made from Knol Kohl that goes well with Chapathi and Rice as well. Ingredients: Oil - 2 Tbsp Mustard Seeds - 1 & 1/2 tsp Urad Dal/White Lentils - 1/2 tsp Curry Leaves - 6-8 Green Chillies - 2 Kohlrabi or Navil Kosu - 4 Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp Salt - 1 & 1/2 tsp Grated Coconut - 2 Tbsp Lemon Juice - 1 tsp Coriander Leaves - 2 Tbsp Method: 1. Heat 2 Tbsp of Oil in a Kadai. Once the Oil is hot, add 1 & 1/2 tsp of Mustard Seeds. When the Mustard Seeds begin to splutter, add 1/2 tsp of Urad Dal/White Lentils. 2. Add 6-8 Curry Leaves. Next, add 2 slit Green Chillies. Sauté all the ingredients together for a minute. 3. Now add 4 peeled and finely chopped tender Kohlrabi or Navil Kosu to the Kadai. Sprinkle 1/4 tsp of Turmeric Powder and mix everything well. 4. Pour in 1/2 cup of water, or just enough to immerse the chopped Kohlrabi or Navil Kosu. Cover the Kadai and let the vegetables cook. 5. Open the lid occasionally to stir, and continue cooking. Cook on medium flame for at least 10 minutes. Add 1 & 1/2 tsp of Salt, and mix well. 6. Seasoning Kohlrabi or Navil Kosu this way brings out the best flavour. It also helps our body absorb its nutrients better. When all the water has evaporated, add 2 Tbsp of grated Coconut and mix well. 7. Add 1 tsp of Lemon Juice and mix thoroughly. Finally, add 2 Tbsp of Coriander Leaves and give it a final mix. Once the water content is completely gone, turn off the flame. This Palya tastes great with both Rice and Chapati.
