Dulcineasdiarycontinued - Apologies for the long video it was a very long walk to the site and around the site. There was also registration, a talk before the walk, information panel signs to read all along the walking route, Sunscreen to put on, stop for water, ice cream and kids colouring sheets & pencils, info brochures & tent to ask questions, cardboard cut out Metro train models and more talks as well as stopping to hop on some of the excavators and compactors, even a selfie dress up in a hard hat and hi vis vest on site . Refer descriptions in my "Where Am I Off To Today?" series of videos. This event was a little too far away therefore unless there are more public transport accessible Metro Sydney West community open days closer to Sydney CBD, it is possible that this will be my only visit to a working Metro West construction site community open day. It's probably more intetesting as new Metro Stations are closer to completion or opening day. At the moment most sites are just deep holes in the ground or mountainous piles of earth, stones etc sitting around construction sites. To be honest although the staff were really nice and very knowledgeable and it was a well organised event on site, it ( the site ) was umm a little boring ( get it???) - unsure if it was me or if others thought so as well. Maybe I just like to see action and pretty construction sites , maybe I expected to be taken into a big shed like building such as the one seen in the distance and look down to a huge hole dug out below or even see Betty Doris or whatever the boring machines are named up close. Yep signage was great if you stopped every few meters in the heat to read the information on them. Probably more interesting visiting the Metro stand at The Easter Show. Climbing into excavators and other large trucks was more for kids - I'm too old to do that anymore. Was there meant to be more to the tour? I think I originally rated this event an 8/10, it was probably with the morning groups. If you want to see the difference in group tours there are other videos uploaded onto YouTube and some better then mine.
