Just Another Night (1928) VELVET TONE RECORDS # 1711-V, side A Walter Donaldson, composer Walter Cummins, vocalist Unknown instrumentalists Issued 1928 Nights are kinda long Everything seems wrong All because I’m longing just for you Why should I feel sad? How can I feel glad? How can I help feeling like I do? (Refrain) Just another night, all by my own-some, Just another night, to feel so blue Just another night, to feel so lonesome, Hoping you might, be lonesome too Just another night that might bring gladness When the sun’s away and day is through If I had Aladdin’s Lamp, I’d wish for Just another night to be with you! Walter Cummins is a perhaps undeservedly obscure singer from the 1920’s and 1930’s. He mostly sang with his brother Bernie’s band; and while that band achieved some success, it never became extremely popular. Cummins’ voice had a unique quality, a high very mellow tone unlike most of the singers of his day. Listen to the record and judge for yourself. Velvet Tone Records was an American record label that was founded by Columbia Records in 1925 and closed in 1932. Velvet Tone featured material identical to that of Columbia's two other low price labels, Harmony Records and Diva Records (and after Diva was discontinued, Clarion Records) - Wikipedia
