Solo Travel in Split, Croatia – Exploring Music & History #travel #solotravel I am 47 and I stopped working over and year and a half ago. I gave up work mainly because my Best friend told me he had liver cancer and had 6 months to live. He wanted to go on his dream trip to Roatan Honduras and I didn't have any vacation left at work since I only got 10 days as I live in the USA. I decided to quit my job but they let me take 3 months off to spend with my friend and since he was doing ok still we went on his dream trip. Only problem was then my mum came down sick while I went on the week trip to Roatan with my best friend so we left there and headed straight to England to see my mum since he had never been to England anyway. We spent a week in England. My mum got better while I was there and was let out of hospital so after a few weeks there I headed back home to USA. Thee day I got home I got the call no one wants to get - actually I hadn't even gotten home yet I was still driving home but...... My brother told me the Doctors told my mum she has 2 months to live. I spent a week in USA getting things taken care of mainly my dog sitter sorted and left to be with my mum in England to help take care of her. I ended up staying in England for 6 months and my mum has since passed away and I headed back home and was so happy to see my dog (because 6 months away from him was a long time). During that time my work fired me because they said I couldn't work remote from England (even though I worked full time remote anyway). Since I didn't have a job when I returned back to the USA I decided it was time I took some time off and lived my life to the fullest. My Best friend was still doing ok even though the Doctors had previously said he only had 6 months to live so we decided to travel around a bit. We did van trips in USA to see all the national parks we wanted to see, we took a trip to Hawaii, Europe and did so much in the year. We are still traveling now and i also traveled a lot on solo trips with GAdventures, EFGoahead tours and Remote year in the past as well. Life is short and you never know how much time you have left. I try to experience as much as I can on a budget. Last year I bought a small Nissan Van to do a lot of camping trips in and its been fantastic.
