Rise Up, My Love – David Rain – Vancouver Chamber Choir

This song was a wedding present for my daughter Salima and son-in-law Tarik. As a boy chorister I delighted in singing Healey Willan's setting of "Rise Up, My Love", a true gem. The beautiful imagery of this text drew me to write my own setting, in a very different style to Willan's. This recording was made on November 28, 2025 as part of a memorial concert for my uncle, Duncan W. Shaw (1932-2025). “Rise Up, My Love” was sung by Kari Turunen and the @VanChamberChoir at @canadianmemorialunitedchurch in Vancouver, Canada.
