The Global Refugee-led Network comprises refugee-led groups in six regions, North America, South America, Europe, Africa, MENA and the Asia Pacific. Our vision is to build a global network of refugees and refugee-led initiatives to bolster refugees’ ability to make meaningful contributions to decision-making processes. It aims to advocate for refugee agency and self-representation, strengthening the collaboration between the Network members, relevant global initiatives and other stakeholders, to guarantee positive changes to the global refugee architecture, including the development and humanitarian systems. Furthermore, we aim to enhance refugee inclusion on local, national, and international levels. Thematic Areas: 1. To strengthen refugees’/migrants’ agency and capacity to effectively influence European decision- making processes, including by ensuring the voices of refugees and migrants are heard at the national and European levels. 2. To make an active European coalition of refugee-led and migrant-led advocates capable of influencing the EU agenda and decision-making processes on refugee and migrant policies. 3. To coordinate activities for future refugee-led and migrant-led advocacy by identifying crosscutting EU policy priorities, work towards outcomes of May summit 2019 to improve EU policies on refugees and migration and share the road map of future activities including a capacity development program of the advocates. The strategic planning meeting is a first step towards the priorities of European Summit. As core team members, we believe to develop more concrete action plans, it requires building a strong summit aimed to consult diverse range of Refugee and Migrants to influence the European agenda and European policies as new active EU citizens. Towards 2020-2025: As mentioned earlier, the EUC main advocacy interest are to; 1- Ensuring refugee/ Migrants advocates have the diplomatic and public space to advocate for refugee interests. 2- Mobilizing multiple stakeholders to join the Refugee Participation Alliance through the GRN pledge and manifesto. 3- Creating spaces for refugee leaders around the Migration debate to maximize their participation and highlighting a number of their refugee-led best practices and strengthening the capacity to enhance its processes to be a well-established network. The current context characterized with hostility, xenophobia, lack of information, but also with non-effective legislative framework, no funds and responsible body for refugee integration calls for a new approach to community engagement which will lead to consolidation of the available resources, building on the activism and expertise of refugees living in European Countries. 6.
