Back at the old cabin knocking out a bunch of jobs before the snow flies. This trip: Moved the wood stove to a new corner (way better spot) Ripped out a rotten floor section, new joists, insulation, fresh plywood down Fixed the old chimney chase – cut out the rotted boards and install new ones Installed a brand-new window (so much more light now) Pulled the metal off one side of the roof and replaced the old roofing paper (other side still to do) The wildlife highlights were unreal: Trail cam down the trail caught a cow moose with a brand-new calf – still wobbly, less than a day old A black bear showed up one night while nobody was there, stood up and quietly looked in the door window – paw and nose smudges all over the glass Lunch literally flew in: a spruce grouse landed in the tree right beside the cabin while I was working, one quick shot with the .22 and I had fresh fire-roasted grouse 10 minutes later.
