Thurs., February 28, 2019, 7:00–9:00 p.m. This presentation is hosted by our partner group: IONS Austin (https://www.meetup.com/ionsaustin) Humanity sits on the brink of a revolution. Creativity is about to be reframed as a form of yoga that integrates body, mind, and spirit, as opposed to an intellectual ability like thinking or problem-solving. This shift offers the very real promise of turning our creativity into a vehicle for profound personal and global transformation. Expanding upon his April 2018 talk at IONS Austin on Deep Creativity, Dr. Victor Shamas lays out the specifics of the coming creative revolution, including: 💥 Three reasons why a shift in understanding creativity is not only necessary but inevitable. 💥 A radical new vision of creativity that draws upon ancient wisdom from texts like the Yoga Sutras, Vedas, and Upanishads. 💥 The parallels between creative inspiration and Samadhi, or meditative absorption. 💥 An overview of the six-fold path that leads to creative inspiration through the application of basic yoga principles and practices. 💥 Specific examples of how this path can generate breakthroughs in any aspect of our lives—from our own pursuit of happiness to large-scale social and political change. This talk will provide you with practical resources on the yoga of creative inspiration. These tools will let you live up to your creative potential by showing you how to inspire yourself and others on a consistent basis. Dr. Victor Shamas is a Psychologist and former University of Arizona consciousness researcher whose work integrates psychology with yoga and other wisdom traditions. For nearly 25 years, he has taught Nada Yoga (the yoga of sound) through his non-profit group, Global Chant. He is author of four books: Deep Creativity, The Chanter’s Guide, The Way of Play, and Repose: The Potent Pause. Dr. Shamas includes meditation, kriya yoga and chanting in his daily practice. His work has been featured in Yoga Journal. Dr. Shamas' Website: http://www.victorshamas.com Dr. Shamas' Books & CDs: http://www.victorshamas.com/books--cd...
