One is the absolute beginner DJ, who has no preconceived notions about software or platform, and doesn’t otherwise know how to get started. The other use case is for the experienced DJ on a budget, who doesn’t want anything fancy, nor gimmicky or awkward. It’s a straightforward, traditional controller design without too much fuss. However, I’d steer clear if you are highly interested in FX, as the Inpulse 500 just doesn’t focus in that direction. Not every controller has to re-invent the wheel, some controllers just need to fulfill a need.
