Life of Indian Kashmiris in Karachi | 75 Years After Partition Karachi hides many untold stories — but this Indian Side Kashmiri community is unlike anything you’ve seen before. Their language, dress, and culture are still alive. Karachi is home to many unseen stories, and one of the most fascinating is the Indian Side Kashmiri community that migrated here during different periods of time. In this exclusive video, we go deep inside the lives of Kashmiris from Indian-administered Kashmir who settled in Karachi and rebuilt their identity while keeping their roots alive. Even today, this community proudly preserves its original Kashmiri language, traditional lifestyle, cultural values, and authentic Kashmiri food. From daily routines to family traditions, everything reflects a strong connection to their homeland despite decades of separation. During this journey, I also experienced their traditional Kashmiri cultural dress — the Pheran (Jubba), a beautifully designed garment known for its warmth and elegance. Wearing it gave a real sense of how deeply culture is woven into daily life. The people featured in this video belong to different districts of Indian Side Kashmir, and migration to Karachi continued until the late 2000s, after which movement stopped. Since then, many have been unable to return, making Karachi their permanent home. Today, a significant population of Indian Side Kashmiris lives across various neighborhoods of the city, quietly maintaining their heritage. This video is not just about migration — it’s about identity, survival, culture, and memory. A story rarely told, rarely seen, and deeply human.
