Hey everyone, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2024 Ford Bronco, we're gonna be showing you how to install the etrailer.com universal brake controller install kit. Before we do that though, let's take a minute, we'll check this out and talk about what it's actually gonna do. So for those of you, these Broncos didn't come equipped from the factory with a tow package and you're looking for a way to allow you to get a seven way type connector and allow you to hook up a trailer brake controller without having to go to the dealer and get modules installed and programmed and all that. This will be a good solution for you. So this is gonna come with your seven way connectors, some wiring, some ins and outs that will allow you to get all that stuff set up and be able to kind of go from there. Take your brake controller and some other parts to kind of put everything together and get everything working. With your seven way type connector, that's gonna provide you with all the lighting functions. You know, you'll get your turn signals, your tail lights, your brake lights, your electric brake output, 12 volt power and reverse light if you decide to hook that up. But it's pretty convenient too. So you kinda get two for one. So you have your seven way there. But also built in is a four-way flat type connector. So you know, regardless of what type of trailer you're pulling, you'll be able to hook up and have the lights and everything working without having to keep track of an adapter or reducer if you ever find yourself in that situation,. In order for this to be able to do its job, you are going to need existing four way flat trailer wiring. The wiring that we set up on our Bronco today, it's made by Tekonsha but I believe there's some other brands that will work just fine too. You know, Curt for example, doesn't really matter as long as you have a functioning four-way flat, you know, the brake controller install kit will plug into that and kind of build off of it. Now with that said, you know, this install kit isn't going to give you every single thing you need to be able to set up a whole entire brake controller kind of from start to finish. So for those of you that are starting from scratch, you got nothing, you'll need a four-way flat kit. This install kit, your favorite trailer brake controller, as well as a stoplight switch to give the trailer brake controller the signal whenever you push a brake pedal down in your Bronco telling it, hey, you know, I'm pushing the brakes down, we need to send power to our trailer's brakes. So you know, it's pretty convenient having this kit because it comes with a lot of those small pieces that a lot of other ones kind of miss, you know, so hopefully kind of shed some light on what this kit is gonna do and help you accomplish and make it a little bit easier on you for setting your Bronco up. Now as far as the installation goes, it's not really that it's confusing by any means, but it's definitely time consuming. You know, a lot of wires to route from the back to the front. You gotta run some from the engine bay inside of the vehicle, but thankfully the Bronco, it has some big grommets that are easy to get to. It's pretty wide open under there, so it's definitely not the worst vehicle that I've done by any means. But set some time to the side to do this. Now if this is something you don't even wanna mess with, you can't always use our dealer locator app to help you find a shop in your neighborhood that can set this up for you. But if you're gonna do it yourself, hang around, we'll go ahead and get started on it now. To begin our installation, we're gonna be starting at the back of our Bronco and the very first thing that I like to do is take our connector here and kind of start to prep it. So one of the things that I change with these is the ends will have these pre-attached butt connectors on 'em. They work just fine and everything, but personally I like to upgrade to heat shrink style, the end seal up and just help protect against corrosion a little bit better. So that's something you can always do if you want. If you end up using these, no big deal, just tape 'em up real good. But we're gonna be dealing with the black wire and the b
