Andy LaPlegua, the creative force behind Combichrist, sat down with Capital Chaos TV to talk about his journey into music, his new album One Fire, and how the punk spirit of the ’80s still shapes his art. From discovering Dead Kennedys as a kid to working with industrial icons, Andy opens up about creativity, collaboration, mental health, and the ever-changing world of music production. Capital Chaos TV: How did you first get into music? Andy LaPlegua (Combichrist): Well, I think I was about nine years old—yeah, I was nine. It was 1984, and that’s when I first heard Dead Kennedys. I thought I had discovered music. It was crazy because I’d never heard anything like it before. My dad was into Black Sabbath, my uncles were into German speed metal, and another uncle was a total hair metal dude—the biggest hair I’ve ever seen! But when I found Dead Kennedys, everything changed. It completely changed my life. From there, I was hooked on punk. That was my whole world throughout the ’80s. I started a band—I couldn’t play, my drummer couldn’t play—we just got gear, made noise in the garage, and that’s how it all started. It’s history now. We were young and inspired. You only discover music like that once. I’ve said this before: when you have that kind of musical awakening, it stays with you forever. You never forget it. https://capitalchaostv.com/2019/05/27... #combichrist #AndyLaPlegua #IndustrialMusic #OneFire #CapitalChaosTV #PunkRock #DeadKennedys #APerfectCircle #FearFactory #BurtonCBell #capitalchaostv
