Mandalorian Suite | The Mandalorian: Season 3 (Original Soundtrack) by Joseph Shirley

Initially I thought that these motifs belonged to the Watch given it's usage in the last few seasons. But in season 3 it really struck me as the theme for the Mandalorians as a whole, with different motifs mixed together to create an overall distinct sound for the warrior race. What appears to be the main motif for the Mandalorians is a simple theme consisting of simple two-note phrases, conveying not only the heroism but mystique of the Mandalorians and their history. Alongside that is a motif mostly present in season 1 and barely appears in season 3, but consists of another two-note progression played on bass or some electric guitar that shows their grit and roughness. Shirley introduced a repeating motif that sounds very reminiscent of Zimmer's Dune theme, focusing on more of the ancient essence and history of the Mandalorian culture. The fan favorite melody everyone knows however is the ostinato that always plays during the Armorer's forging scenes, reeking of efficiency, militancy, and rhythm. Word salad about the different motifs aside, Shirley added some new elements to the sound of the Mandalorians such as loud droning sounds and tribal drumming and percussion that showcases a lot of their warrior culture and history. What Shirley did with the Mandalorian thematic material was very impressive to me, tying it all together in a way to where it all became extremely obvious where all these themes were being guided towards.
