At NetApp we had our own head-shaving venue after their public venue downtown Raleigh. Why a private venue you ask? Why not both, I reply. I'm not sure how much funding was collected prior to and during the public venue, but at the private on-site venue we saw one guy collect $1000 from the audience in about 30 minutes just for shaving his beard (he'd already collected about $1800 for shaving his head prior to the event - his beard was just icing on the cake). Who's cake you ask. Well, the kids! St. Baldricks Foundation is a charity for research for cancer in children. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. And I've heard that NetApp employees as a collective are one of, if not the biggest contributors to St Baldricks. Which is why I had the N logo for NetApp shaved into my head. Thank you so much to the good kind friends and family who donated on behalf of me. I had the easy part - you folks dug deep into your wallets and purses. The kiddo's Thank You.
