I am independent sewist who returned to sewing during the first UK Lockdown. Usually I make garments, but I have recently discovered ByAnnie Bags and Patterns ByAnnie. After watching a number of ByAnnie YT videos, I have developed a passion for creating her bags which are usually made with quilting cottons. Having had a few months' break from Vlogging, I am now back to share a short series of sew-alongs and progress updates on a few of her easier patterns. In this video I am concentrating on this slightly more advanced (for me) Catch All Caddy 2.0. Although this one is not exactly difficult, it does rely on an interest in developing a specific set of bag-making skills. I have learnt some of these skills from studying Annie Unrain's ByAnnie Live promotional videos, and from creating a few of her easier patterns. She has free Add-on Videos attached to some of her patterns. These show specific ByAnnie Pattern techniques, like quilting the fabric, making and applying bias binding, using handbag size zippers and creating sturdy dimensional bags. I began with the Easy Does It Bag, and there will be a short video coming soon that introduces you to that one. I cannot believe how well I am getting on with these techniques, attaching handbag zippers, binding edges, sewing the curved edges of quilted dimensional bags together with a quarter inch seam, and finishing them with no raw edges showing. My absolutely favourite bit though is choosing the colours and patterns of the fabrics and co-ordinating at least three different design, and just watching them come together with the impact I am aiming for. I hope you enjoy these homely videos and would love feedback from you in the Comments section if you have the time to write to me. Thank you for watching my channel. I always try to use my local fabric shops where I can. I live in the UK near to the sea on the Fylde Coast in Lancashire. Fabrics at Fleetwood is a wonderful independent shop with a friendly family ethos, positioned on the main street (Lord Street) in this small but busy town. The lovely owner and friendly staff have kept me going with vibrant fabrics, notions, and bits and bobs when visiting their shop, and through their online presence and Click and Collect service, or their Free Delivery for Locals, when lockdowns have prohibited us from attending the store. Recently I have also discovered Sew Hot, which is also quite local to me and stocks loads of ByAnnie products. I believe Sew Hot is a joint venture between enthusiastic sewists in the UK and in California who got together to share the best of both worlds to quilters and crafters all over the world. They are currently an online only resource as they have just moved to bigger premises, and are working hard to set out their new physical shop, but so far their Local Collection option has saved me loads in both postage and in waiting times! Anyway, love and enthusiasm to you, I do hope you like this new group of bag making videos. Let’s just keep on sewing!
