🧽 Time to banish the grime. ☣️ Since Hercs don't exactly lead sheltered lives, they regularly reach us covered in contaminants. 🏜️ These can be environmental (dust, sand, salt, pollen, bugs) or the result of usage and aircraft condition (soot, exhaust, hydraulics residue). 🧼 A post-arrival wash isn't just for cleanliness: it's necessary for effective maintenance. 🚿 Bringing an unwashed aircraft into the hangars could mean missing corrosion, cracks, fatigue or leaks during visual inspections or non-destructive testing. 🫧 If the aircraft is being paint-stripped, a thorough wash standardises the surface condition, preventing inconsistencies and leading to a better result. 🧴 It's also a chance to get under the aircraft's skin and clean out areas like flap tracks, wheel wells, landing gears, and various other cavities and bays all over the aircraft. ⚠️ To prevent water ingress due to the high-pressure wash process, we seal up "must-protect" zones such as paratroop doors and sensors. ✨ Once the aircraft is squeaky clean, it's ready for induction.
