Back in the slightly clunky summer of 2020 I decided to work on a lockdown version of a Christmas classic. After a discussion with studio guru Dave Draper we decided that The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl's classic Fairytale of New York was the only real option. I'm am SO grateful to him for all his guidance and to all the musicians who have given up their time and talents for nothing. This video and song are in aid of The Trussell Trust who are responsible for feeding many thousands of people around the UK through food banks. If you would like find out a little more about what they do you can visit https://www.trusselltrust.org If you fancy heading straight to their donation page you can do so here https://www.trusselltrust.org/make-a-... Massive thanks to the singers (in order of appearance): Ian Prowse (Pele/Amsterdam), Les ‘Fruitbat’ Carter (Carter USM), Dan Donnelly (The Wonderstuff/The Celtic Social Club), CJ (The Wildhearts), Simon Friend (Levellers), Carol Hodge, Shannon Byrom (Blackwater County), Lorna and Dan Heptinstall (Skinny Lister), Tony Wright (Terrorvision), Flo Parker Bombosch, Emily Ewing, Abbe Martin and Hannah Wood (Sound of the Sirens) and Gavin Osborn. To the rest of the choir: Emily Larkin, Rich Quarterman (Man the Lifeboats), William Harper and Clatters. To the orchestra: Sisters Jenny Spencer-Wortley (viola), Kate Carter (violins) and Emma Collingham (cello - collectively known as Sorrelli Strings), Jude Russell (violins), Izzy Barber (violins), Vicky Barber (viola), Eden Hemphill (violins), Ben Roberts (cello)… to the folkies: Emmy (drum), Max Thomas (Skinny Lister - melodeon), Dan Donnelly (banjo/mandolin), William Harper (guitar), Aaron Horlock (melodeon - Man the Lifeboats), Rich Quarterman (mandolin), Shannon Byrom (whistle), Jude Russell (fiddle), and of course my False Alarms band mates John Hare (piano/trumpet), Josh Hampson (drums), Tom Granville (bass), John Leonard (whistle/accordion) and Ben Wain (fiddle). Strings arranged by Craig McLeish. Mixed and mastered by Dave Draper. I think I'm right in crediting James Cooray Smith with the line 'You've taped over Taggart' but Google searches were inconclusive. www.nick-parker.co.uk
