These musicians blend their personal musical preferences with a deep passion for Lampung’s traditional music and the Jamaican music nexus. Their modus operandi combines these elements with influences ranging from Black Uhuru to The Specials, from King Jammy to Adrian Sherwood, and from the poetry of Mustofa Bisri to Hila Hambala. Started their musical journey since the release of their single debut, “Youth Culture” (2009). A track which gained a heavy rotation on local dance clubs for a couple years. This track, which was released under CCL then released again on their own soundcloud with various versions from many fascinating and prominent music producers and DJs from Indonesia. Roadblock Dub Collective then came back again in 2017 with the single “Dutty Bizness” released by one of powerful bass music from Colombia, InBassion Records. And involved in the first Indonesian dub collaborative works, “Nusantara Dub Connection” with their own “Intercity Dub” alongside many dub pioneers in the country such as Yella Sky Sound System, King Masmus, Radit Echoman, High Therapy and Baxlax Boy. They then consecutively released other works in 2020, starting from the single set “Sepinggungan/Russ” featured a couple collaboration with Terranova Waksman, a frontwoman from one of Indonesian leading dub acts, Anjing Dub. And a charismatic yet powerful rapper Oddateeee, who is also known as a frequent guest musician for French major dub actors, High Tone. Then in the same year, they teamed up with one of USA’s respectable reggae scenesters, Dr. Strangedub to be featured on the sequence of “Echo Chamber - Around The World In Dub” released by Dandada Records from Portugal. Next year, they released a “Dubrüderschaft - Series 1” a dub poetry series featuring Wahyu Widodo & Yedijah Roots and another single with a high octane reggae songstress from Philippines, Lady I. And an EP “Suwarna Dub” released by a very influential dub imprint from Cyprus, Dubophonic Records. In 2024, they were backed by one of another world’s dedicated dub entities from France, Culture Dub. With this music imprint, Roadblock Dub Collective releases their own debut album, “Magna Ragom” (September 18th) 2024.
