🩸 What Are Vascular Malformations? Vascular malformations are abnormal clusters of blood vessels that don’t serve a clear purpose—like a tangled nest of arteries, veins, or lymphatic vessels. 👉 They are usually present at birth but can become noticeable later in life as they grow. 👉 Unlike tumors, they don’t spread quickly, but depending on where they are located, they can cause serious issues. In the brain or spine, they may bleed and cause disability. In the muscles, they can trigger significant pain. In the GI tract, they can lead to bleeding. 🔍 Types include: AVMs (arteriovenous malformations): High-flow connections between arteries and veins. Venous malformations Lymphatic malformations Capillary malformations Mixed types 💡 Treatment Options: High-flow malformations → treated with embolization, where glue-like materials block abnormal vessels. Low-flow malformations → often treated with sclerotherapy, injecting medicine directly into the vessels under X-ray guidance. ✅ If the malformation isn’t causing symptoms (and not in the brain or spine), sometimes no treatment is needed—just monitoring. But when they cause pain, bleeding, or other complications, minimally invasive treatments can be highly effective. This is Minimally Invasive Insights—bringing clarity to complex conditions. #VascularHealth #MinimallyInvasive #VascularMalformation #AVM #InterventionalRadiology #PatientEducation
