I am Der Geher starting at the Johannes-Prassek-Park and walking through Barmbek-Süd. Passing the theatre "Die Burg" (the castle) which was a former church build in 1927 and a bronce sculpture by Karl Heinz Engelin. The monument of the french period remembers 50 dead from the Napoleonic occupation. After 4,5km the subwaystation U Hamburger Straße and the shopping center Hamburger Meile are reached. In the end of the walk the memorial for the bomb victims remembers a destroyed bunker in the WWII. Barmbek-Süd (southern Barmbek) became a district in 1951 when former Barmbek was split up into three parts. Barmbek itself is more older. First mentioned in 1271 but with older traces of settlers. The town became part of Hamburg in 1830. Now it is a living quarter for about 36,000 people.
