Carols sung by Westminster Abbey Choir conducted by Douglas Guest (1967) Organist Simon Preston. Something seasonal, and also a bit of a nostalgia trip for me as I used to go to the Abbey frequently when I was a student in London in the early 70's, and I have fond memories of the Christmas Carol services there. Sadly it doesn't say on the LP who is the baritone soloist in 'A Spotless Rose'. The carols sung are A Spotless Rose, Sing Lullaby and Here is the little door by Herbert Howells Wither's Rocking Hymn and Christmas now is drawing near by Vaughan Williams Whence is that goodly fragrance? Trad arr C.H.Kitson A Hymn to the Virgin by Benjamin Britten There is no rose of such virtue by John Joubert Carillon (organ solo) by Herbert Murrill
