What the heck is Euro nymphing? Is it some fancy way to catch trout? 🧐 It’s actually a simple technique that uses a tight line, a longer rod, and NO indicator to drift nymphs and catch fish. By getting rid of the indicator, you get a direct connection to your flies, and can feel ANYTHING that happens to them. Whenever your flies hit a branch, rock, or get eaten by a fish, you’ll feel it. That feedback allows you to dial in your presentation for every specific spot in the river. And, since there’s no indicator, there’s no need to adjust your rig for every hole. You can achieve a different depth simply by raising or lowering your rod. Using a long rod - typically 10 feet, often up to 11 feet - and a long leader (Euro leaders are around 20 feet) can take some getting used to. And this style of fishing isn’t for everyone.
