Graham Boyd in the Studio
To coincide with UH Arts + Culture's exhibition 'Volatile Creatures' we interviewed Graham Boyd about his life as an artist. When reviewing the artist’s practice over 50 years, it reveals a steady progression of work underlined with a fascination for the hidden forces of nature. His New Hampshire Grids of the 1970s were meticulous and repetitive drawings contrasting with the expressive, large, colourful paintings of the 1980s, but have combined to inspire the artist’s most recent work. Graham Boyd continues to work from his Hertfordshire studio. Boyd is an Honorary Fellow of the University of Hertfordshire and was Head of Painting and Course Leader in Fine Art at Herts College of Art and Design from 1976 to 1993 (which is now the University of Hertfordshire).
