Red Hat OpenShift Serverless is an abstraction layer on top of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (RHOCP), which allows developers to start deploying applications in a standardized way. OpenShift Serverless is based on the Knative open-source project, and provides a uniform and tightly integrated interface across the hybrid cloud ecosystem. In this video we'll have a look at OpenShift Serverless Functions. In the context of Serverless, a function is a very specific, simple unit of code, which takes an input, executes business logic, and returns an output. As a developer, you focus on implementing the function, and offload all the other details to the underlying infrastructure. Additionally, OpenShift Serverless Functions act as Knative services when deployed to Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (RHOCP), so you can connect functions to Knative Eventing components. By integrating serverless functions and Knative Eventing, you can construct event-driven serverless architectures, while reducing the effort required to produce, consume, deliver, and route events. You can consider Functions as a Development model and Knative as the Deployment model.
