#AmericanAccent #Englishpronunciation #poetry #poem #poet This is a very inspirational poem. The message of this poem is that people, like trees, grow and reach their true potential by overcoming adversity. It is only through struggles, like a tree fighting through forest growth to reach the sun, that we grow and discover our true potential. Enjoy listening to it. Good Timber = By; Douglas Malloch / The analysis The tree that never had to fight For sun and sky and air and light, But stood out in the open plain And always got its share of rain, Never became a forest king But lived and died a scrubby thing. In this stanza, the tree represents humans and the different lives they lead who never worried in life because they have all resources like food, water, air, and everything. Never became stronger men because they never face any adversity in life. And when he died, just like a stunted thing. The man who never had to toil To gain and farm his patch of soil, Who never had to win his share Of sun and sky and light and air, Never became a manly man But lived and died as he began. The man never had to work hard to get on his part. They never had to conquer because he has everything even without doing any effort, and never became a manly man but lived and died without development because he did not feel the need to reach beyond his readily available resources. Good timber does not grow with ease, The stronger wind, the stronger trees, The further sky, the greater length, The more the storm, the more the strength. By sun and cold, by rain and snow, In trees and men, good timbers grow. Good timber represents “good or strong”. A strong man doesn’t grow without pain. He encounters difficulties and problems like trees never did. He faces strong winds and storms. The more problems he encounters, the more he became stronger. By happiness and sadness, by abundant and insufficient, he will survive. Where thickest lies, the forest growth We find the patriarchs of both. And they hold counsel with the stars Whose broken branches show the scars Of many winds and much of strife. This is the common law of life. Where full of lies, the man keeps going and finds their leadership of both. And they advise people who lose their path and fail. Of many struggles and conflicts, this is the reality of life.
