Beijing, the capital of China is a well planned city with its centre square shaped followed by more outer squares. It’s historically important as the capital of many dynasties notably the Ching and Ming dynasties. The first & ultimate thing on your itinerary should be the Great Wall of China. I visited the Mutiyanu section of the Great Wall which is around 1.5 hrs north west from Beijing city. I chose this stretch as it’s very scenic, less crowded and popular with western tourists. The entire wall is 21,000 + km long which is more than half the length of equator. The concept of a wall started in 200 BC to protect from northern nomadic invaders like Mongolians.
