On the first two days of our Cross-Washington bikepacking journey, everything started going wrong. Mechanical issues, tough miles, and a huge decision we didn’t expect to face this early in the ride. This is where the adventure really begins. On May 24, 2025, we set out to bikepack the Cross-Washington Mountain Bike Route, a multi-day ride crossing the entire state from west to east. Over the first 94 miles, we battled unexpected bike problems, rough terrain, and the uncertainty of whether we could stick to the full route.
