In 2024, I've declared it my mission to reclaim the unicorn as a symbol of manly awesomeness. Back in the late 20th and early 21st century, unicorns got wrapped up in this "girly" image, thanks to marketing shenanigans targeting young girls with toys, clothes, and cosmetics. The majestic unicorn got kind of hijacked, becoming a symbol for women, feminism, and LGBTQ causes. But no more! Let's rewind to a time before all that jazz. Unicorns and horses, in general, were the OG symbols of bravery, kings, and knights. Picture this: these mythical creatures strutting around like the rockstars of the animal kingdom. So, saddle up, my friends, because the unicorn is about to ride back into manly symbolism. Ancient Badasses: Unicorns were like the rockstars of ancient civilizations. Greeks were totally convinced they were strutting around somewhere on Earth. Medieval Vibes: In medieval times, people believed unicorn horns had magical properties. Legendary Healing: Unicorn horns were thought to have the power to purify water. Move over, Brita filters. Bravery Symbol: Unicorns were often seen as symbols of strength and bravery. Knights probably wished they could ride into battle on one of these majestic beasts. Regal AF: In European folklore, unicorns were seen as noble creatures, sometimes even more regal than kings. Royal vibes all the way! Elusive Creatures: Unicorns were believed to be pretty elusive. Spotting one was like finding a needle in a haystack, but way cooler. Diplomats of the Animal Kingdom: Some stories even portrayed unicorns as mediators between humans and the animal kingdom.
