Bob Weigel of http://www.sounddoctorin.com gets back from a summer of prospecting fun to finally do something with one of the synths setting around for a while. The filters have very limited flexibility on this synth stock. So I decided to install a modification since this one needed a lot of cosmetic work anyway. We got all the panel rust treated, letters and lines detailed to where it looks ok at a distance and even put some veneer together! Not bad now! Installed some pots that worked well and switch actuators. Replaced bad regulator and found a via that was intermittent finally so that it works stably. Then had a bizarre mystery that will go unsolved apparently. It just started working consistently... but it was a dual op amp set up with two follower circuits. One worked. One had an output that would not move. Pin 1 and 2 measured shorted on the op amp. I put in another 1458 chip and same result! Finally I don't know what changed but it got off the 1.8V steady state output and started at least following with a little offset. Absolutely bizarre. But now it works..taper seems better than factory (that sharp transition between hardly any sustain and mass sustain on these every time I work on one..)
