This is the national anthem of the Sultanate of Oman, also known as The Royal Salute or السلام السلطاني العماني. Originally composed by an unknown European composer (which is slightly different from the current version) in 1869, this melody was intended to be performed for the Sultan of Oman and Zanzibar who was one of the royal guests of inauguration of Suez Canal. The lyrics have changed from time to time, the first one adopted (de facto) in 1932 during the time of Sultan Said bin Taimur until he was overthrown on 23rd July 1970 by his son, Qaboos bin Said who then ordered to officially adopt this melody with the new lyrics as the national anthem of Oman, written by the principal of Oman's main school (Al-Saidiyah School, Muscat) at that time, late Taufiq Jamal Aziz, as well as a famous poet, late Hafeedh Salim Al-Sayl Al-Ghassani. After the demise of Sultan Qaboos on 10th January 2020 and followed by the accession of his cousin Haitham bin Tariq bin Taimur to the throne, succeeded on 11th January as per the late Sultan's will. The new Sultan then ordered an amendment in the lyrics, rewriting the last stanza which had previously mentioned the name of Sultan Qaboos. It definitely was not easy remastering a rare instrumental version of this arrangement first played in 1992 by The Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra, but I hope this is fruitful and people would enjoy this work, and thus I upload this masterpiece coinciding with the 2nd Anniversary of His Majesty Sultan Haitham's accession to the throne. Long Live Oman, the Sultan and its people 🇴🇲. حفظ الله سلطنة عمان والسلطان هيثم بن طارق.
