The Canon T90 was the last manual focus camera Canon released before replacing the entire FD-mount body and lens system with the EF-mount EOS cameras and lenses just a year later, in 1987. This video looks at the evolution of the EOS 650 from the Canon T90. The T90 is a great camera. Its two main shortcomings – no real depth of field preview, and no real metered manual mode – are due to physical limitations of the FD lens mount and mechanical control of the lens aperture. There are work-arounds, sort-of, but their absence wasn't a deal-breaker for most users... though they were features Nikon and other makers offered, and they were available on the EOS 650. We take a close look at two little-known factory modifications offered for the T90 when new, and look at a cheap and effective way to resolve one of the T90's most frustrating design flaws.
