Unnamed Visitor - Angor (Experimental/Ambient/Grunge 2020 - Portugal)

Every now and then I get a band on the net which is musically far away from my usual taste but which knocks me off my feet. That's how I felt with UNNAMED VISITOR from Portugal, who were posted to Bandcamp at 6 in the morning, just before I went to sleep and afterwards at exactly the right time. Originally I had taken to the beautifully drawn artwork but the main melody in the first song really captivated me and I couldn't get away from it. ANGOR is hard to describe and should rather be heard than read up on, but of course I want to give you a little impression of what is hidden on this longplayer. For the first two songs you could probably describe the sound as grunge with different electronic influences, but during the rest of the album there is a lot of experimentation, so that some tracks can be classified as DRONE or Noise. But it doesn't matter, because the music is just great dreamy and mostly has an incredible calming effect. In some moments you are brought down to earth by impulsive instrumental interludes, while other passages seem to go on forever and invite you to cool down. The atmosphere on ANGOR is really worth mentioning and manages to express itself completely and stays diversified which is mainly due to the incredibly good voice in which the dirty garage-grunge sound is brought to life. On UNNAMED VISITOR different comparisons can be made, because a lot of different musical elements have been brought under one hat which melt together very well. Be it the grunge vocals á la Kurt Cobain, the drone sound of [Bolt] or the lethargic mood of Teen Suicide.
