The P-40 Warhawk model is propelled by an 850kv Dualsky motor and a 13x8 propeller, powered by a 5000mAh 4S LiPo battery. Flight Review: Had not flown the P 40 in about a year, so it was a long hiatus between flights. The main reason has been ongoing issues with the retracts. The retract system alone would cost around 300 dollars to properly upgrade, and being a servo driven mechanical setup, I am not keen to keep pouring money into it. The airframe is definitely due for a serious service. Despite that, the model managed a clean takeoff from the tarmac in a strong crosswind from the east. Once airborne I settled back into the airframe very quickly. One thing I did notice was at full speed, especially coming out of a dive, the plane develops a slight wobble with a gentle yaw left and right as it settles at high speed. It may be related to the large tail for the speed range, but it was manageable. Up at altitude the sky was perfect. I worked through some loops, rolls, and wider manoeuvres to really enjoy the model and take in the scenery. The Warhawk still presents well in the air and tracks nicely when flown smoothly. The real challenge came on landing. I was focused on touching down without twisting the wheels. I brought it in slowly onto the tarmac but did get a noticeable bounce that carried the model onto the grass. In the end I did not mind, as it helped keep the cowling intact while it slid to a stop on the nose. Next step is to fully strip the retract system, machine some flats on the gears with the Dremel, and redo the linkages to improve the structural integrity because they are currently slipping under load. I had extra motivation to fly today since I am seeing the full size Warhawk this weekend and could not resist getting the model back in the air beforehand
