Let me explain how… When the government abolished instant triple talaq, these people cried foul, claiming it was a conspiracy against them. Instant triple talaq, which destroyed the lives of countless Muslim women with just three words, was banned in many Islamic countries long ago. Yet, when the Modi government removed it in India to deliver justice to Muslim women, the same groups protested. Similarly, when CAA and NRC were introduced—laws that had nothing to do with Indian Muslims but were meant to give refuge to persecuted non-Muslims from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan—there was an uproar. India, being the only Hindu-majority country, was simply providing shelter to oppressed Hindus, just as Israel does for Jews worldwide. But miscreants spread false propaganda, claiming the law would expel Indian Muslims. This sparked violent protests, stone-pelting, and road blockages, with agitators threatening to break the country apart. Now, once again, with the government's plan to amend the Waqf Act, these same forces are ready to create chaos. The Waqf Board, which was established post-Partition to manage the properties left behind by migrating Muslims, was given absurd rights, allowing it to claim any property as Waqf property. The burden of proof fell on the actual owner to disprove the claim, with disputes only allowed in Waqf tribunals. The new amendments bring much-needed reforms: ✅ Property disputes can now be challenged in civil courts and high courts. ✅ Only properties officially donated will be recognized as Waqf properties. ✅ Waqf Boards will now be required to include two women and two non-Muslim members. ✅ District collectors will have the authority to handle property-related disputes. These changes aim to bring fairness and transparency, but once again, radical forces are calling for protests, threatening another "Shaheen Bagh"-like agitation.
