You can see it here:    • [FWR] Balatro Set Seed Glitched - 1m 08s S...   [02 Jan 2025] Update 2: The Balatro speedrun.com mods have announced that runs that use glitches such as this will be in their own separate category, called "Glitched", and will be retimed to end on the "You Win" screen rather than on the deck being fully replaced. This means that this run is now considered a 1:25.283 rather than a 0:58.850. Additionally, MathIsFun managed to beat my time by using the same seed with better execution resulting in a time of 1:17.770! So this run is now a former world record. I have changed the title of the video to reflect these changes. See MathIsFun's run here:    • Breaking Balatro's Speedrun World Record w...   [02 Jan 2025] Update: Just to clarify, whilst this run does indeed use a glitch to achieve a world record, this is completely within the rule set that was written on the speedrun.com leaderboards. The reason I stop the time when the deck is returned rather than on the win screen is because that’s when the rules say timing ends. Since this glitch hasn’t really been utilised in speedruns before, the mods may decide to make changes to the rules to accommodate for this (e.g. changing the end time to the win screen, making a new category, or banning the glitch altogether). If this does happen, then I will update the video title and description accordingly, but as of writing this, the Balatro speedrun.com mods have yet to review my run. 000aj noticed that this glitch was allowed by the speedrun.com rules, and whilst this would be extremely unlikely to achieve in a random seed run as the setup required is so specific, with the right seed, it could be used to set a new set seed world record. I was able to help ​⁠000aj find seeds that could work by using a filter they had programmed for a Balatro seed searching program called immolate, I ran it on my desktop computer as it required an Nvidia GPU to run. It managed to find 20 or so seeds that had Mr. Bones, Merry Andy and an ankh in a spectral pack in the first ante 2 shop. 000aj then went through them and this was the best one that was found out of that group of seeds. After 000aj did their run, I noticed that it was performed on ante 3 rather than ante 2, this was because 000aj couldn’t get the “You Win” screen to appear if the glitch was performed on ante 2, and whilst the rules didn’t explicitly state that the win screen had to appear for the run to count, it would certainly feel strange to submit a run where it just doesn’t show up. I decided to try out running the seed myself to see if I could get it to appear after performing the glitch on ante 2, and whilst it didn’t appear on every run I did, it did appear sometimes, depending on what cards I played/discarded. After completing a sub-1 minute run, I decided to upload it to YouTube to show to 000aj to see if they could replicate it, but even when playing the exact same cards that I had done in the video, the win screen didn’t appear. I assume that this has to do with the fact that they played on the Nintendo Switch version of the game whilst I was playing on the PC version, so the “You Win” screen may not appear if you attempt this run yourself. There are certainly better seeds out there that could be used to achieve an even faster run, 000aj and I thought that the most optimal seed would be one that gives you a holographic Mr. Bones, Merry Andy, and a mega spectral pack that contains Ankh and Immolate in the ante 2 shop, as well as giving you a hand with a 4 of a kind on the first boss. This allows you to beat the first boss in a single hand without needing to discard (a straight flush would also work but would be slightly slower as five cards score instead of 4), the immolate allows you to remove 5 cards from your hand, so that on the ante 2 boss you only need to play a single hand to get rid of all of your cards, and the holographic Mr. Bones allows you to get 25% score with only a high card, which saves time as only one card would score. We attempted to find a seed with these parameters, but because it is so specific and we didn’t know how to program filters very well, we were unable to find one.
