She's a masterful sitarist and film composer as well as an impassioned activist, and has worked with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Patti Smith and even the Dalai Lama. Her love of composing beautiful blends of classical Indian music with contemporary sounds stems from growing up in a musical household. Her father was sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar and her half-sister is Norah Jones.
