I've been using, and posting about, EGO power equipment for almost ten years now, but I had never had any trouble with any of my three EGO batteries until this season. The battery in this video is nine years old, and is in its tenth season of service. Fortunately, I've learned a few tricks from comments that some of my viewers have shared over the years on how to get a non-charging EGO battery going again. I can't say that I fully understand all of these tricks, but I'll share some of the comments that I've seen within various discussions below my videos. THREE HACKS TO GET YOUR EGO BATTERY CHARGING AGAIN: Trick #1: "If doesn't charge, on top of the where you press to see the battery life. Tap the top and see if anything changes, now the battery works." I asked for more detail on this tip, and this is the reply I got: "The area where the button is (where it shows the battery life). I just tap it with my palm few hits, not hard, and somehow it started working, it seem like it's a wire issue inside that made a lost connection. Ever since then I been using it, and it has been holding charge." Trick #2: "Remove the battery from the charger, press and hold the button for 3 seconds or until indicator lights give you a report. This will reset the computer in the battery." Trick #3: (This may work in a similar way to Trick #1.) "Orient battery so that the indicator light is on top. Drop battery on to hard surface from a distance of 2 or 3 inches. Place back on charger. This will reset the thermal safety switch in the battery." If you are dealing with an EGO battery that is having trouble charging, then try some of these tricks, and let us know how they worked for you. I would suggest that you leave Trick #3 (dropping the battery) as a last resort. Good luck... I'm rooting for you!
