Pre-Christmas perambulation around Petworth, West Sussex

Join us, in the dark (initially!), for a pre-Christmas walk around Petworth in West Sussex. Petworth is located approximately 13 miles north east of Chichester. Unfortunately, the main tree and some of the town lights were not switched on, but there was still plenty to film. As soon as the sun was up, we did another little tour of the town, including the iconic Lombard Street leading to St Mary's church. This church largely dates from C13, though it is believed one existed on the site prior to the Norman conquest. St Mary's backs on to Petworth House, a couple of clips of which we have included for the sake of completeness. This historic house is now owned by the National Trust. More info here https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visi.... On the eastern edge of the town is the Sacred Heart Catholic church which was built in the late C19 in the Gothic Revival style. For us, the most enjoyable part of the walk was the Shimmings Valley area, where we were able to film a few birds and the remnants of the late autumn this year. We imagine this area could be rather difficult in wet conditions; you would have to like mud! Walking around the town is suitable fall all ages and abilities though the roads and pavements are quite narrow in places, so you do need to keep your wits about you to avoid passing traffic!
