CO₂ incubators are widely used in scientific research to grow and maintain cell cultures. Typical fields of application include tissue engineering, in vitro fertilization, neuroscience, cancer research, and other mammalian cell research. Key Points for Installation and Setup 1. CO₂ incubators can be placed on the flow or working surface or floor stand. The spacing at the sidewall should be at least 10cm. The spacing at the back of the equipment should be at least 20cm. Environmental Requirement Indoor use only Ambient temperature 18°C - 34°C Relative humidity: 80-85% without condensation altitude up to 2000 m (6600 ft) must be installed in the room with sufficient ventilation 2. Level of the Unit The cabinet has built-in leveling feet that can be adjusted to level the unit. Adjust the feet the unit sits level left to right and front to back. Use the Bubble level and adjust the leveling feet. 3. Stacking the Incubators Remove the screw from the back at the top left and right of the incubators. These screws will be used to secure the stacking brackets later. Use a bubble level and adjust the leveling feet on the lower incubator until the shelf is horizontal. Lift the 2nd incubator onto the top of the 1st incubator and align them. Secure the stacking brackets provided in the Accessories Kit Box. Note: If the equipment is to be stacked on top of each other, the equipment with the lower working temperature must always be placed at the bottom. 4. Connecting the Unit to Electrical Power Plug the power cord provided in the Accessories Kit Box into the power inlet at the rear of the unit. 5. Connecting to CO₂ gas supply CO₂ gas supply should be industrial grade 99.9% pure. Install a 2-stage pressure regulator (available from Esco) to the CO₂ tank outlet. the inlet pressure must be regulated to 15 PSIG. Use the Connection Hose Kit in the Accessories Kit Box. Connect one end of the tubing to the outlet of the 2-stage pressure regulator. Connect the other end of the tubing to the barb fitting at the rear of the cabinet CO₂ Inlet #1. If the unit is equipped with a built-in gas backup system, there will be 2 gas inlets. Each of the inlets should be connected to an individual gas tank as described before. 6. Filling the Humidity Pan For best operation of the incubator, sterilized distilled, demineralization, or de-ionized water should be used in the humidity pan. Water purity should be in the resistance range of 50K Ohm/cm to 1M Ohm/cm, or conductivity range of 20.0 uS/cm to 1.0 uS/cm. Chlorinated tap water is not to be used as chlorine can deteriorate the stainless steel. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Esco Lifesciences Group, headquartered in Singapore, is building a synergistic ecosystem of life science tools, diagnostics, therapeutics, and technologies to help improve human lives.
