ASIFA India’s Stellar Contribution at WAVES 2025: Celebrating Excellence, Empowering Youth Talent, and Leading Global Dialogue ASIFA India (Association Internationale du Film d'Animation) created a significant impact at the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES 2025), igniting a new wave of inspiration in India’s Animation, VFX, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) sectors. Organized by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, WAVES 2025 was held with grandeur from May 1 to 4, 2025. Recognizing ASIFA India’s vital contribution to the AVGC-XR sector,Ministry of I&B, felicitated ASIFA India President Shri Sanjay Khimesara with a special memento during the grand ceremony held on May 4, 2025. ASIFA India at WAVES 2025 – A Showcase of Creativity, Collaboration, and Capacity Building During WAVES 2025, ASIFA India curated and conducted multiple flagship events, including three prestigious award ceremonies and a series of masterclasses, workshops, and panel discussions, bringing together global experts, industry leaders, and emerging creative talent on a unified platform. Under the banner of ASIFA India Awards of Excellence 2025, ASIFA India honored 35 students and professionals through diverse formats— a grand red-carpet ceremony by Aaj Tak, Asifa and an Ministry of I&B— recognizing creators at every level. These prestigious awards received an overwhelming response from thousands of professionals, students, and aspiring creators across India and worldwide, becoming a premier national platform to celebrate excellence and innovation in Animation, VFX, Gaming, XR, and Digital Art. Empowering Creators Through Knowledge Sessions and Global Dialogues ASIFA India also curated insightful knowledge sessions: On May 1, 2025, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the WAVES'25 and stressed on Creativity, Content & Culture via Orange Economy. After launch of WAVES'25, Prime Minister also met few students at the Creatosphere' segment and interacted with young creators who were shortlisted out of 1 Lakh participants under the ambitious initiative of 'Create in India challenges' organized by Ministry of I&B since July'24. On May 2, 2025, among other initiatives Asifa India jury participated in a media dialogue and panel on “Cross-Cultural Storytelling: Building Global Narratives through Animation”, showcasing the significance of cross-cultural collaborations. On May 3, 2025, Pradipto Sengupta, CFX Supervisor, DreamWorks, California, USA, conducted a masterclass titled “From Dhanbad to DreamWorks Hollywood”, inspiring students and creators with his journey. On May 4, 2025, two special workshops were organized— one by Mr. BN Vichar on Digital Sculpting and Filmmaking using Mobile Cameras, and another unforgettable session by Mr. Dhimant Vyas on Clay Modeling and Claymation.On May 4, 2025, a panel on “Emerging Trends in AVGC-XR Sector in the Era of AI: Bridging Industry and Academia” featured ASIFA India President Sanjay Khimesara, Jury members Briana Yarhouse and Pramita Mukherjee (California, USA), moderated by ASIFA India Core Member Vinita Bachani. Strengthening the Creative Community with Purpose and Vision Since November 2022, under the leadership of President Shri Sanjay Khimesara, ASIFA India has conducted hundreds of activities across the country through its 5 sub-chapters. During WAVES, ASIFA India also hosted a special members' conference, showcasing a powerful video that reflected its extraordinary journey over the past few years— highlighting workshops, mentorship sessions, industry-academia dialogues, International Animation Day celebrations, CG meetups, ASIFA India Awards of Excellence, and global collaborations conducted by its 15 sub-chapters across India. This initiative reinforced ASIFA India’s mission “Animation for All, by All”, uniting students, professionals, and educators into a thriving creative community.
