I dusted off an old computer built in 2004 to install antiX 19 and see how well it would work for a variety of tasks, including: browsing the internet; editing documents; watching YouTube videos; reading e-mail. My overall conclusion is that it can be done, but honestly I would rather use my Raspberry Pi 4B. Editing of small documents worked very well in LibreOffice. For browsing, Pale Moon worked better than Firefox, in regards to speed and reliability. For YouTube, dedicated programs like mps-youtube work well and browsers should be avoided. For checking e-mail, using the "basic HTML" mode of Gmail provides a decent experience in a browser; using Thunderbird is a good alternative.
