Hey, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. Today we are reviewing the Kuat Transfer V2 three-bike carrier. The Transfer's available in a bunch of different sizes, depending on how many bikes you want to carry. With the three-bike carrier, you're gonna have Kuat entry-level bike rack, but also premium features. So if you're looking for tilt-away, front wheel mount, included cable locks, well, this is gonna be the bike rack worth looking at. But what makes the Kuat Transfer very distinct on the road is its open goal post design, and that's there to make it bit easier to load your bikes up onto the rack or to take them off. And when the bikes are off and you have the rack folded up, this is gonna be the bike rack that gives you the most visibility behind your vehicle. So if you're always worried about backup cameras or license plate visibility, things like that, the Kuat Transfer is the one for you. But when the bikes are on, then your main goal is gonna be stability because you would make sure that you have a rack that is able to carry your bikes from point A to point B. And with that in mind, you have two main touch points. You have your front wheel mount, but then you also have your rear wheel mount. So before we get into that, let's go take it out outside so you can see how it performs. So here we are driving around on our test course, and we're gonna start with our alternating speed bumps. This is the simulate hitting a pothole or hitting a curb, that side to side movement there. And some pretty good lack of movement from our bikes overall. Now we're doing our up and down speed bumps, seeing that up and down movement. There's a little bit of rocking here from the bikes, but not that I'm concerned about. This is as if you we inchesre exiting a driveway or hitting a normal speed bump. Making our turns here, this is when I look for sway or side to side sway. Nothing much from our bike rack or our bikes. So here's some tips and tricks to make sure that you have the proper fit of your bikes on the rack, as well as the rack onto your vehicle. And this is gonna be a front-wheel-mount rack, meaning this adheres your bikes by the front and the rear wheel. And this has a hook that fits on there. So the hook works where when you have this up to your fork, it pushes down on your front wheel, but then you also have a large cradle underneath supporting your bike. What I've seen a lot when people use this bike rack is they secure the hook a little bit further down on the tire. This is why you shouldn't do that. If you pull on the hook, you'll see you actually have plenty of space still, and that's why we always recommend securing as close to the fork as possible. This does have a weight capacity of 40 pounds per bike, which slightly higher than the average weight capacity of 35, but not that much if you are looking to carry extra heavy electric bikes. Now, depending on the type of frame you have, doesn't really matter because there is zero frame contact, all the contact is in the front and the rear wheel. This does have a maximum wheel base of up to 50 inches, and that's gonna be accomplished by this pivoting rear cradle. Now for those extra large frames on some of those larger mountain bikes, when you have a longer wheel base past 50 inches, what's gonna happen is that that rear cradle won't be able to fully support your bike. It will look like that, and that is something that you want to avoid. So always just double-check your wheel base to make sure it's secure. And for those extra large frames, you can also adjust your front wheel cradle right over here just to give a little extra tilt for those longer wheel bases. For security, you do get a cable as well as a lock on the bike rack. So it's not quite an integrated cable lock, but it's still something that you can secure into that end. And this is gonna be keyed-alike to the lock core that comes on your hitch pin. That way with only one key, you can still access both your bikes as well as your bike rack. But I always recommend removing that cable lock when you're about to drive just because you don't want that extra friction and touch points on your bike as you're driving around. Now, to take off the bike, it's super fast and easy. You start over with your wheel straps and then you go over to your front wheel hook. And this design means that you can now hit the trails faster, but it also means that you can unload your mul
