Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus Disease in 2019 (COVID-19) in Wuhan China, the virus reached Amsterdam in February 2020. The authorities decided, as anywhere else to implement restrictive measures. In the Netherlands the policies were better known as an intelligent lockdown. Schools, restaurants, bars, cinemas, hairdressers were closed and gatherings of more than 3 persons were forbidden. Social distancing - stay away from others at least 1,5m - was the norm. On the other hand shops and businesses were still open. The result of the lockdown gave a blow to the cities life, as almost everybody decided to stay at home, not letting elderly die, and giving some time and space to the Intensive Care Units (ICU) of the hospitals to deal with the Corona infected. This video shows the result of the Coronavirus and the measures taken by the national and local government to protect the health of the citizens of Amsterdam.
