The text message came in over our family group chat. He’s here! Mom and baby are doing great. I let out a joyful scream. Photos followed. Tears followed. My brother and his wife had just welcomed their first baby into the world. I am the oldest of seven children and I consider my siblings as my best friends. This new nephew of mine was the fourth baby of my siblings and I still had not managed to be in California for any of the arrivals. It leaves a terrible ache. Since my youngest could finally manage without me for a few days I made a very quick and desperately needed trip to meet the new baby and spend a few days with my siblings. Not everyone made it into the video this time.
