Brick Township - Two Alarms - 776 Lexington Drive - Ocean County - New Jersey Just after 8:00 AM Brick Township Police Department received a call for a reported structure fire at the address of 776 Lexington Drive off Sally Ike Road in the Herbersillve part of town. The caller reported smoke & flames showing on the phone with dispatch. First, the Police & Fire Chief (2400) arrived to find a fire & smoke condition emitting from the structure. Seconds after 2400 asked for a second alarm assignment. That brings in every Brick Township fire company plus Point Pleasant Boro & Howell Township. The house was under construction according to the workings and neighbors on the scene. There was a crew working on the house at the time of the fire. First, due engine 2471 came into the scene grabbed a hydrant, and began to stretch a 2.5-inch attack line to the exterior of the house. Shortly after an interior line was stretched of 2471 a 1.3/4 inch line through the front door. First due layer 2325 was set up in front of the structure and went inside to work. 2435 was the second due ladder & put up the bucket behind 25. Crews inside and outside battled the blaze as fire ripped along the roof line advancing to the B side of the structure. Shortly after crews were able to stop the spread of the fire along the roofline and the fire started to darken down in color. Crews from Howell Township 19-1 and Point Pleasant Boro subsequently arrived on the scene. Heavy fire damage was seen from the outside of the house as the flames went down. Soon after the tower ladder operated and the bulk of the fire was knocked down with a combination of all hand lines and tower ladders. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation. Crews remained on scene for about two hours hitting hot spots and assisting investigators.
