Melvins -Weedeater-April- 8- 2025 -Bay Area Backstage

Bay Area Backstage was on location in Downtown San Jose on April 8, 2025. The Savage Imperial Death March Part 2 tour, featuring Weedeater, the Melvins, and Napalm Death, rocked a sold-out show on a Tuesday. Weedeater pounded their way through a set that was low-end earthquake-style mayhem. On location, I asked Shep, the guitar player, about the tuning; he stated it's a secret and laughed. His sound is, in his own words, basic, and with a Big Muff, gets the blood going sonically. We spoke with the drummer and guitar player after their set. Coady is the co-drummer for the Melvins; the iconic, spacey sounds of Seattle have been a favorite of mine, and his too; Dale is great, the iconic drummer he shares the stage with. Coady's cool - we get his story, and eventually landing in Murder City Dolls and High on Fire, the local boys make good. We have a song from their set, showcasing Coady, and a song from our archives.
