Sometimes kids can get snappy or have a smart mouth or maybe give you some lip. Whatever it is, it is NOT ok! Back talking is rude, no matter what age you are. This can be either in a conversation with an elder, a superior, or even your peers. The first thing to realize is that all kids may try it. It's how we handle it that determines if they will continue doing it. We often take it personally but yet it's often not personal. Kids go through phases of testing us. As they get older, it's our responsibility to teach them respect and proper communication. Talking back is not effective. We also have to make sure we are modeling the behavior we want to see.
