Papum Pare News | Naharlagun | August 24, 2025 Murder of Class IX Student Solved Within 24 Hours; Accused Arrested NAHARLAGUN — In a swift breakthrough, police have cracked the sensational murder case of 16-year-old Nitul Nath, a Class IX student of Global Academy, within 24 hours of the crime being reported. On August 22, 2025, around 8 AM, police received information about a dead body found at Dokum Colony (Down Police Colony), Naharlagun. The FSL team was immediately requisitioned and collected crucial forensic evidence from the spot. The deceased was discovered half-naked, wearing only a black half-pant, lying near the doorstep inside his room. Four sharp injuries were observed on his facial region, suspected to have been caused by a sharp weapon. The victim was later identified as Mr. Nitul Nath (16), son of Shri Balaram Nath, cook of SP Itanagar. Taking serious note of the crime, SP Naharlagun Dr. Nyelam Nega constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the command of Rishi Longdo, SDPO, along with Insp. K. Dev (OC PS Naharlagun), Insp. Gejum Basar, SI Sunny Hodong, SI Gyati Lento, H/C Kanto Samyor, and Ct. Sanju Rai. Based on leads, police detained Norbu Dawa Sona (22), a Master’s 3rd semester student of Rajiv Gandhi University and resident of Dokum Colony. During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to murdering Nitul Nath on the night of August 21, 2025, while under the influence of intoxicants. He admitted to fleeing the scene and disposing of the weapon afterward. Further investigation revealed that the accused shared a close friendship with the victim and often acted as his guide and guardian. On the fateful night, Sona reportedly found a used pouch of ganja in the victim’s possession, leading to a heated argument. Despite his repeated efforts to dissuade the teenager from consuming contraband substances, the altercation turned violent and tragically ended in Nitul’s death. Police have registered a case at Naharlagun Police Station (Case No. 112/25, U/S 103(1) BNS), and further investigation is ongoing. Report by Raha Talar #arunachalgovt #arunachalpradesh
