Join the community: https://www.myirritableheart.com/ If you’ve been told you have NSVT (Non-Sustained Ventricular Tachycardia) it can sound very alarming. Seeing the words ventricular tachycardia on a heart monitor or ECG result often causes people to worry about serious heart rhythm problems. In this video we explain what NSVT is, why it happens, and when it may or may not be dangerous. Non-Sustained Ventricular Tachycardia is a short run of fast heartbeats that originate from the ventricles (the lower chambers of the heart). By definition, NSVT lasts less than 30 seconds and stops on its own. The key factor in determining risk is whether the heart is structurally normal. In people with underlying heart disease such as prior heart attacks, cardiomyopathy, or structural abnormalities, NSVT may indicate a higher risk of more serious arrhythmias. However, in people with a structurally normal heart, NSVT is often considered benign and may not require treatment. Doctors typically perform several tests to evaluate this, including: • ECG (electrocardiogram) • Echocardiogram • Cardiac MRI • Holter monitor or extended heart rhythm monitoring • Exercise stress testing These tests help determine whether there is any underlying heart disease affecting the heart muscle or electrical system. Understanding the context of NSVT is extremely important, and many people with structurally normal hearts experience these rhythms without ever developing dangerous arrhythmias. This channel focuses on helping people understand common heart rhythm symptoms and reducing anxiety around palpitations and arrhythmias. Topics covered on this channel include: • PVCs (Premature Ventricular Contractions) • PACs (Premature Atrial Contractions) • NSVT and Ventricular Tachycardia • Heart palpitations • Arrhythmias and heart rhythm disorders • POTS • ECG and cardiac testing ⚠️ This video is for educational purposes only and should not replace medical advice.
